Abstract:
This paper presents a novel broadband circularly polarized (CP) planar magnetoelectric dipole antenna designed for 5G mmWave applications. The antenna design features a circular-type meander structure-based dipole, enhanced by an aperture-coupled feeding mechanism to ensure broadband performance. Achieving wideband impedance matching (-10 dB|S11|) bandwidth from 22.8 GHz to 42.1 GHz (59.5%), alongside a 3dB axial ratio bandwidth from 25.7 GHz to 39.0 GHz (41.1%), this antenna exhibits remarkable frequency coverage. Furthermore, the antenna demonstrates a maximum gain of 5.74 dBic, with a negligible 0.5 dB drop across the entire -10dB |S11| bandwidth. These attributes collectively position the proposed antenna as a promising candidate for advanced 5G mmWave communication systems.
