Abstract:
The ground movement modeling of aircraft involves the simulation and analysis of the aircraft’s motion on the ground and supports accurate prediction of the aircraft’s trajectory during taxiing, pushback, and other ground operations. In this work, we propose a physical car-following model to simulate the navigation of the aircraft along the taxiways. We tune the model for different taxiway clusters and wake turbulence categories. In this paper, we provide a detailed description of the data analysis approach for tuning the parameters of the model to achieve realistic modeling of the taxiway movement. Our results show that the car-following model achieves 11.6% Mean Absolute Percentage Error when predicting the total taxi time with a Root Mean Squared Error of 111.2s and outperforms other benchmarks.
