Abstract:
Smoothing and sharpening are two fundamental operations in image processing, and they are usually conducted separately. In this paper, an improved weighted guided image filter (iWGIF) is first proposed to enhance existing guided filters. A content adaptive smoothing and sharpening (CASS) algorithm is then presented by using coefficients of the iWGIF intelligently. A simple despeckling algorithm is finally introduced to simultaneously smoothen homogeneous regions and preserve heterogeneous regions of syntheticaperture radar images. Experimental results validate all the proposed algorithms.
