Abstract:
This paper reports a novel PMUT-based adaptive frequency compounding, whereby image reconstruction at two distinctly different driving frequencies is taking place with the resulting images combined to obtain the final compounded image. A dual-frequency (1.6 and 6.5 MHz) 64-channel PMUT array is used to experimentally evaluate the proposed compounding methodology. The experimental results denote that the proposed methodology offers a higher image contrast, while effectively suppressing noise resulting in an overall better image quality.
