Abstract:
The RF energy harvester has promising application in making the IoT nodes self-sufficient in wireless sensor network. However, current state of the art lacks RF-DC conversion efficiency at lower incident power and output DC voltage level. In this paper, two multi-branch power combining architecture is proposed. The voltage combining or voltage multiplier configuration provides higher output DC voltage. However, it has less efficiency at lower incident power level. In comparison, the current combining configuration provides significantly higher efficiency at lower incident power level. The proposed architecture has the capability to improve the efficiency up to 30% at -20 dBm input power level and DC output voltage up to 8.5V.
