Abstract:
A circularly polarized (CP) microstrip antenna over an asymmetric-metasurface using a coaxial probe is presented in this paper. An asymmetric-metasurface is placed below a square radiating patch to achieve CP radiation (axial ratio less than 3 dB at around 1.6 GHz) at the L-band. The measured performance of the prototype antenna achieves an impedance bandwidth of 3.45% (1.598 GHz - 1.658 GHz) with gain of larger than 5.5 dBic.
