Abstract:
Food and beverage fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industries produce goods at very high speed and volume to meet consumer demands of food supply. Quality assurance for such mass-produced products and brand image are interlinked. At present, some of the identified areas in FMCG that do not have established fast in-line inspection platforms include powder homogeneity detection, cleanliness monitoring, package integrity testing, seal integrity testing, product quality assessment, and waste segregation for recycling. Currently, these problems are addressed using human intervention and/or offline screening procedures, which are destructive, time-consuming, and expensive, and has low throughput. In this work, we propose and demonstrate a low cost capacitive non-destructive evaluation platform capable of addressing different issues from various sectors in FMCG industries. The proposed system demonstrated a wide range of applicability with fast detection time, high sensitivity, in-line integration capability and a small system footprint.
